Abstract

The history of Artificial Intelligence has witnessed a paradigm shift from discriminative models (classifiers) to generative models (content creators). The current frontier is marked by the arrival of AI, which can pursue goals independently, interact with the environment, and execute dynamic planning. AI is in stark contrast to earlier Large Language Models (LLMs), which are simply passive seekers of information. Instead, AI is based on a cognitive model of perception, planning, action, and memory to execute complex multi-step tasks with minimal human intervention. The architectural model of AI is presented, and it is distinguished from earlier AI. The importance of tool use and reasoning loops is also presented, along with safety and alignment issues.
